Effect of Task-Individual-Social Software Fit in Knowledge Creation Performance: Mediation Impact of Social Structural Exchange

Abstract

The current study discloses empirically the role of task-individual-social software fit in knowledge creation in the context of manufacturing industry, service industry, and research institute. A salient consideration is the mediation effect of social structural exchange on the role toward knowledge creation performance. Results of data analysis from 279 valid samples reveal findings as follows. First, effect of task-individual-social software fit is confirmed. Second, structural exchange does not mediate the role of task-individual-social software fit toward creation performance. Third, task-individual-social software fit is associated significantly with variables represented by social software, creation task, and individual cognition, respectively. Finally, both goal-free and goal-frame creation mode significantly influence fit of features of creation task, individual cognition, and social software, and so do both analytical and intuitive cognition style. Discussion and implications are also addressed.
