Abstract
The overall goal of treating progressive spinal and chest wall deformity in young children is through growth-sparing modalities. However, there are situations when performing instrumented fusion of the spine with or without a decompression and/or release is indicated. This chapter will focus on the indications, techniques, results, and potential complications of performing instrumented fusion in growing children. The goals of treatment are to provide adequate spinal stability, limit deformity progression, and maintain optimal chest wall alignment and function in the long term.
