Abstract
Corpora can be a useful reference resource. A translator may use them to identify target-language equivalents for source-language lexicons and syntactic structures, analyze translation strategies and methods, and assess translation quality. This chapter begins with an overview of the development of corpus-based study of translation practice and discusses the practical applications of corpora in translation practice supported by a number of case studies.
