Zusammenfassung

Eine aktive Beteiligung von Patienten wird im Zuge einer zunehmend sich durchsetzenden Patientenorientierung als zentraler Faktor angesehen. Der vorliegende Beitrag konzentriert sich auf den Teilbereich der partizipativen Entscheidungsfindung (PEF). Dieses Konzept wird in Abgrenzung zu anderen Modellen medizinischer Entscheidungsfindung dargestellt und seine konkrete Umsetzung im Kontext der orthopädischen Behandlung vertieft. Erwartbare Effekte der PEF in der Orthopädie werden berichtet sowie Barrieren aufgezeigt, die einer Umsetzung im klinischen Alltag entgegenstehen können.
