Dielectric Strength of Atmosphere Air

  • Chapter
Gas Discharge and Gas Insulation

Part of the book series: Energy and Environment Research in China ((EERC,volume 6))

Abstract

The discharge characteristic and dielectric strength of air and also the gap breakdown characteristics under continuous voltage, lightning impulse voltage, and operation impulse voltage in uniform, slightly nonuniform, and extremely nonuniform electric fields are described in this chapter. Besides, the measures to improve the dielectric strength of air are analyzed.
