Zusammenfassung

Neuropathische Schmerzen sind im klinischen Alltag häufig anzutreffen. Zumeist sind sie unterdiagnostiziert und daher unterbehandelt. Sie sind definiert als Schmerzen, die durch eine Läsion oder Erkrankung des peripheren und/oder zentralen Nervensystems zurückzuführen sind. Eine sorgfältige Anamnese und die Körperliche Untersuchung bringt Sicherheit in der Diagnose. Diese ist von grundlegender Wichtigkeit, da ein eindeutig diagnostizierbarer neuropathischer Schmerz pharmakologisch und interventionell grundsätzlich anders behandelt muss werden als ein nozizeptiver Schmerz.
