Zusammenfassung
Dissoziation wird als (Bewusstseins-)Zustand, als Disposition im Sinne einer Dissoziationsneigung, als Sammelbezeichnung für eine heterogene Gruppe psychopathologischer Merkmale sowie als Antwort auf Traumatisierungen oder als Abwehrmechanismus verstanden. Aus Neurobiologie und Psychodynamik leitet sich ein komplexes Geschehen ab: Äußere oder innere Reize führen zu neuronalen Aktivierungen, die subjektiv als hochaversive Affekte erlebt werden; diese Affektreize können aufgrund ihrer negativen Valenz und ihrer intensiven Erregung nicht angemessen mit anderen kognitiven und selbstreferenziellen Informationen integriert werden und führen „bottom-up“ zu einer übermäßigen Aktivierung präfrontaler Hirnstrukturen, die ihrerseits „top-down“ jene Zentren hemmen, die für Gedächtnis, (Selbst)Bewusstsein und Körperkontrolle wichtig sind. Die aus der kortikal-subkortikalen Inhibition resultierende Dissoziation dient qua subjektiver Dekontextualisierung der Bewältigung innerer Konflikte und äußerer Belastungen.
