Abstract
This examines the effect that new content has on virtual community. The advice given to creators of virtual communities tend to be anecdotal and lacks statistical underpinning. Website creators are frequently advices to continuously add new content as this will spur interest in the website and lead to more users signing up and participant. This study analyses real life data gathered over a two year period to prove that new content does indeed attract more visitors and user registrations, but that it does not increase user participation.
