Construction of Software and Hardware Resource Pool in Data Center Using Virtualization

Abstract

With the development of enterprise informationization, the information systems become more complexity and their maintenance is becoming more difficult, the infrastructures are frequently expanded while the ratio of the utilization of software and hardware resources is relatively low. To address the issue, a method of constructing software and hardware pools in the data center using cloud computing and virtualization technologies is proposed in the paper. The design of key fields in resource pool construction are described, which includes server field design, network field design, storage field design, safety field design, data backup field design and the software’s entering- in-pool design. The application of the proposed construction method to the data center of a provincial electric power company shows that the method could produce a certain administrative and economic benefits.
