Zusammenfassung
Zusammen mit der Hornhaut ist die Sklera die Außenhülle des Bulbus oculi, die ihm eine stabile kugelförmige Struktur gibt. Im Gegensatz zu der Kornea ist die Sklera nicht transparent, sondern porzellanweiß. Am dicksten ist die Sklera am hinteren Pol. Durch eine modifizierte anatomische Struktur (Trabekelwerk und Schlemm-Kanal) fließt das Kammerwasser aus der Vorderkammer ab.
