Zusammenfassung
Höhensysteme werden klassischerweise durch nationale oder regionale Nivellementnetze realisiert. Dem Verfahren des geometrischen Nivellements sind allerdings einige inhärente Nachteile zu eigen, die das Verfahren – gemessen an den heutigen Ansprüchen an Genauigkeit und Effizienz – für großräumige oder gar globale Anwendungen ungeeignet machen. Moderne Satellitenverfahren eröffnen den Weg zu einer vollständigen Neudefinition von Höhensystemen und der Realisierung eines globalen, einheitlichen vertikalen Bezugsrahmens. Der vorliegende Beitrag beschreibt die derzeit noch aktuellen nivellementbasierten Höhensysteme, sowie die Methodik zur Realisierung eines modernen, satellitenbasierten Höhendatums.
