Zusammenfassung
Operationen an der abdominalen Aorta sind heute ein Standardeingriff – ein Standardeingriff mit einem immanenten Risiko, an das man zu selten denkt. Die Rede ist von Infarkten im Rückenmark, die meist thorakal, seltener auch zervikal entstehen können. Rückenmarkinfarkte treten weitaus seltener auf als die Infarkte des Gehirns. Wenn sie allerdings auftreten, sind die Folgen oft katastrophal: Eine Querschnittslähmung kann eintreten und die Patienten können inkontinent werden. Aufgrund der anatomischen Besonderheiten der Blutversorgung des Rückenmarks resultieren einige spezielle Syndrome, die in diesem Kapitel besprochen werden. Die Inhalte des Kapitels sind auch eng verwandt mit denen des Kapitels über die spinalen Gefäßmissbildungen, bei denen klinisch kaum unterscheidbare Syndrome zustande kommen.
