Zusammenfassung

Antiepileptika sind Arzneimittel, die das Auftreten epileptischer Anfälle reduzieren oder unterdrücken bzw. solche Anfälle beenden. Da ein Teil der epileptischen Anfälle durch tonische bzw. klonische Muskelkrämpfe gekennzeichnet ist, werden diese Substanzen auch als Antikonvulsiva (Krampflöser) bezeichnet. In diesem Kapitel werden die pathophysiologischen Grundlagen der Entstehung epileptischer Anfälle sowie Pharmakokinetik, Wirkmechanismen, Wirkungen, Interaktionen, Indikationen und Kontraindikationen für Antiepileptika besprochen.
