Dieses Kapitel gibt einen kurzen Überblick über das Vorkommen und die wichtigsten Funktionen der Lysophospholipide Lysophosphatidsäure und Sphingosin-1-phosphat. Als potenzielle Angriffspunkte für Arzneimittel dienen die verschiedenen Rezeptoren für diese Lysophospholipide. Fingolimod, ein Modulator an Rezeptoren für Sphingosin-1-phosphat zeigt vielversprechende therapeutische Wirkungen bei multipler Sklerose.
