Abstract

The concept of skin extension was introduced by Patrick Frechet in the early 1990s and was created as an evolution of skin expansion, with the intent to maintain its advantages and reduce its negative side effects. The usual indication is androgenetic alopecia (AGA), located at the vertex in patients with stabilized baldness. In the case of extensive baldness, it can be complementary to autografting.
