Abstract
The introduction of suction-assisted lipectomy (SAL) ushered in a new era of body-contouring surgery. The technique has provided a simpler, safer, and more effective method of improving the body contour than what was available before. Subsequent refinement and development, including the use of wetting solution, large-volume liposuction, and ultrasound-assisted lipoplasty (UAL), have further enhanced our ability to contour the body. Today, liposuction is one of the most frequently performed aesthetic operations. Good results are usually expected, and dramatic results are not uncommon. However, these procedures may produce complications and aesthetically undesirable results. These problems can be grouped into four general categories:
