Abstract
This book is aimed at students of the Life and Earth Sciences as well as to all those interested in biodiversity and its development. Beyond the fragmented view of animal and plant diversity it focusses on the total diversity of eukaryotes: their diversity and distribution on Earth as well as the geological development of present-day biodiversity.
