Zusammenfassung

Die Auflichtmikroskopie hat sich zu einem außerordentlich nützlichen Werkzeug im Umgang mit Hauterkrankungen aller Art entwickelt. Tumordiagnostik, Untersuchung von Haaren und Nägeln, Erkennung von Parasiten und viele weitere Anwendungen machen den Arbeitsalltag leichter und sicherer. Entgegen landläufiger Meinung liegt zahlenmäßig ihre Bedeutung nicht in der Erkennung maligner Tumoren, sondern im Ausschluss des Verdachts von Malignität. Dies erspart den Patienten viele unnötige Operationen und Narben. Sicherlich ist sie auch für die Erkennung kleiner und pigmentarmer Tumoren äußerst wertvoll, da sie den Diagnosezeitpunkt vorverlagert. Voraussetzung ist aber, dass auch klinisch eher unscheinbare Gebilde mikroskopisch untersucht werden.
