Therapie akuter und postoperativer Schmerzen

Zusammenfassung

Akute Schmerzen treten bei Krankenhauspatienten ausgesprochen häufig und auf praktisch allen Stationen auf. Insbesondere bei chirurgischen Patienten nach Operationen, aber auch bei Verbrennungsopfern, in der Geburtshilfe und bei vielen akuten Erkrankungen können Schmerzen die im Vordergrund stehenden Beschwerden sein. Adäquate Schmerztherapie ist nicht nur indiziert, um Patienten Leiden zu ersparen, sondern auch, weil nicht behandelte Schmerzen vielerlei negative Folgen für die Gesundheit des Patienten haben. Patienten mit guter Schmerztherapie genesen schneller und erleiden weniger Komplikationen. Die konsequente Therapie akuter Schmerzen beugt möglicherweise auch der Entstehung chronischer Schmerzen vor.
