Zusammenfassung

Chronische Schmerzen in mehreren Körperregionen ohne nachweisbare körperliche Ursache sind häufig und klinisch relevant. Das Fibromyalgiesyndrom (FMS) ist eine extreme Ausprägung dieser Symptomatik und zusätzlich durch eine erhöhte Schmerzempfindlichkeit, Erschöpfung/Müdigkeit, Schlafstörungen, Morgensteifigkeit, kognitive, affektive Störungen und viszerale Beschwerden gekennzeichnet. Die Ausprägung der Symptomatik kann zu einer erheblichen Einschränkung der körperlichen und seelischen Funktionalität und Beeinträchtigung der Lebensqualität führen.
