Abstract
Some images of the oral cavity are frequently seen during video capsule endoscopy (VCE). Improved illumination allows better visualization of native or treated teeth (Figs. 43.1 and 43.2) or dentures (Fig. 43.3). Images of the oral cavity with tongue and palatine (Fig. 43.4) are often captured, whereas the uvula and epiglottis are less frequently seen (Fig. 43.5). Detailed visualization of the arytenoid cartilage or larynx is rare and suggestive for swallowing disorder (Figs. 43.6 and 43.7), especially in conjunction with a long stay of the capsule in the oropharyngeal region.
