Zusammenfassung

Im Kindesalter ist das Nephroblastom der mit Abstand häufigste Nierentumor. Darüber hinaus können heute auch eine Vielzahl anderer kindlicher Nierentumoren unterschieden werden. Durch die kooperative Arbeit internationaler Therapieoptimierungsstudien konnte aus einem meist zum Tod führenden Tumor eine ganz überwiegend heilbare Erkrankung werden. Auch im Rezidiv werden mehr als die Hälfte der Patienten geheilt. Heute liegt das besondere Augenmerk der Behandlung neben der Verbesserung des Überlebens hochmaligner Nierentumoren vor allem auf der Verringerung der Spätfolgen und der weiteren Individualisierung entsprechend eines patientenspezifischen Risikoprofils.
