Zusammenfassung
Im ersten Abschnitt dieses Kapitels finden Sie eine Übersicht über die wichtigsten Elemente der onkologischen Supportivtherapie, ohne die eine Chemotherapie, eine Bestrahlung oder eine Immuntherapie nicht möglich ist. Während die Prophylaxe und Therapie von Infektionen im 7 Kap. 20 ausführlich dargestellt sind, geht es hier insbesondere um die Konzepte der Transfusionstherapie – auch als hämatologische Supportivtherapie bezeichnet –, der antiemetischen Therapie, der Schmerztherapie und der Ernährung. Der zweite Abschnitt dieses Kapitels widmet sich komplementären und alternativen Behandlungsmethoden (CAM), die in der pädiatrischen Onkologie vor allem im Rahmen der supportiven Therapie eine Rolle spielen und zunehmend von den Eltern der Patienten nachgefragt werden. Es wird eine Übersicht vermittelt über den aktuellen Stand der CAM-Anwendung sowie über die Beratungspraxis zum Thema Komplementärmedizin in der Kinderonkologie.
