Zusammenfassung
Die Halswirbelsäule ist mit Abstand der beweglichste Abschnitt der menschlichen Wirbelsäule mit insgesamt sechs Freiheitsgraden. Jedes Bewegungssegment bildet ein komplexes, ausbalanciertes System, welches die Funktionen Haltung bei gleichzeitiger Flexibilität, Balance durch Ausgleichsbewegungen, Aufnahme von axialen Lasten und Schutz des Rückenmarkes übernimmt. Die biomechanische Wirbelsäulenforschung bedient sich zunehmend der Methode der finiten Elemente, darüber hinaus müssen die neuesten Implantate zum Bandscheibenersatz auch hinsichtlich ihrer in-vivo-Kinematik untersucht werden.
