Zwei neue Lehrbücher der Pflanzengeographie im weitesten Sinne sind durch ebenso universelle wie originelle Darstellung und gute Illustrierung auch mit vielen Areal- und Vegetationskarten ausgezeichnet: das polnische von Szafer, die Neubearbeitung eines 1949 und 1959 in 2 Auflagen, 1956 auch in russischer und chinesischer Übersetzung erschienenen Lehrbuchs mit besonders ausführlicher Darstellung der historischen Pflanzengeographie (114 S. mit Bildern vieler Mikro- und Makrofossilien und 2 großen Diagrammtafeln) und 22 S. Bibliographie, und die französische Biogéographie végétale von Ozenda, die erste französische Gesamtdarstellung der Pflanzengeographie und Vegetationskunde mit besonderer Berücksichtigung Westeuropas und der Vegetationskartierung (mit farbigen Vegetationskarten von Frankreich und der ganzen Erde), aber nur knapper Behandlung der Florengeschichte und nur 5 S. Bibliographie.
