Der Musculus latissimus dorsi gehört nach der segmentalen Nervenversorgung in das Gebiet des 6.—8. Hals-Neuromeren. Sein Ursprung liegt durchwegs weiter caudalwärts als die ursprüngliche Lage seiner Bausteine.
