Abstract
Paul wrote some of all, but not all of any of the epistles that bear his name; even Philemon was glossed. The canonical epistles that name Paul in the opening greeting are all official letters from an apostle to a church or churches, or to an inferior minister or layman. They are often written not only in Paul’s name but also in the name of other officials, called brother (Sosthenes, 1 Cor 1:1; Timothy, 2 Cor 1:1; Col 1:1; Phlm 1) or brothers (Gal 1:2) or a fellow-servant (Timothy, Phil 1:1) or simply named with him (Silvanus and Timothy, 1 Thess 1:1; 2 Thess 1:1).
