Zusammenfassung

Gärten sind Teil unserer Kultur und Kulturgeschichte. Vielfach haben Künstler dazu beigetragen, durch die Inszenierung des Blicks auf die Landschaft und das bildhafte Festhalten von landschaftlichen Gegebenheiten Landschaft in die Köpfe der Menschen zu bringen. Im Rahmen der „Spontanen Gärten“ in Krems an der Donau, 2001 sollten Gärten und Landschaftsräume für eine Saison in Szene gesetzt, neue Sichtweisen und Perspektiven zum Thema Stadt und Landschaft an spezifischen Orten in Krems manifest werden. Gärten als Teil des öffentlichen Raumes sollten einer sich ständig verändernden Stadtkultur Rechnung tragen und mit den Möglichkeiten urbaner Landschaftsarchitektur arbeiten. Verknüpft durch einen Stadtgartenpfad waren an sieben Stationen in der Stadt Krems temporäre Projekte geplant. Es wurde nicht nur das Thema Garten, sondern auch die spezifische landschaftliche Kulisse von Krems thematisiert. Verborgene Gärten und Flussläufe waren ebenso eingebunden wie Stadtplätze und Parkbereiche. Die Projekte blieben in den Köpfen der Menschen, sie konnten leider nicht realisiert werden. Die Umsetzung scheiterte vorläufig am politischen Willen der Stadt Krems.

Abstract

Gardens are an integral part of our culture and our cultural history. Artists have often been asked to bring landscape into the minds of people by staging the gaze directed at the landscape and to document in imagery aspects of a landscape. As part of “Spontaneous Gardens” in Krems an der Donau — 2001 gardens and landscapes are to be staged for one season. New perspectives and approaches to the theme of urban space and landscape are to become manifest at specific locations in Krems. As a part of public space gardens are supposed to reflect a constantly changing town culture and to work with the possibilities of urban landscaping. New perspectives and approaches to the theme of urban space and landscape are to have a provocative effect. Temporary projects were planned at seven stations in the town of Krems. These stations are connected by a town-garden path. Not just the garden theme but also the specific landscape backdrop of Krems was addressed. Hidden gardens and river courses were included as well as town squares and parks. The projects have remained in the minds of people but unfortunately they could not be translated into reality. Realization has proven impossible for the time being due to political will in Krems.
