HLA Antigen Expression in Cardiac Transplant Biopsies: Association with Rejection and Propagation of Infiltrating Alloreactive Lymphocytes
The expression of class I and class II HLA antigens in situ was studied in serial endomyocardial biopsies of human cardiac allografts. The presence and intensity of this expression were assessed in relation to other parameters of cellular rejection: histological evidence of cellular infiltration, the IL2 facilitated growth of lymphocytes from the biopsy tissue, and donor alloreactivity of biopsy-grown cells.
