Abstract
Recent years have witnessed the introduction and development of new techniques in hepatobiliary surgery such as those now employed in the elective management of high bile duct strictures and the solitary metastatic lesion of the liver. In addition, definitive treatment of primary hepatic tumours and bile duct neoplasms can be attempted.
