Abstract

Tumour metastasis is the most important single factor influencing survival in cancer patients but we know little of the basic mechanisms involved (see e.g. Nicolson 1977; Fidler et al. 1978; Roos and Dingemans 1979 for reviews). In this paper I shall discuss some of the unsolved problems and consider the experimental systems we use.
