Secretion of Thallous Ions from the Blood into the Gastrointestinal Tract of Rats
The secretion of thallous ions from the blood into the lumen of the stomach, the jejunum and the colon was investigated in situ on anesthetized rats (urethane, 1.25 g/kg). The method of the pendulum perfusion was used; a detailed description of the method is given. The movement of fluid was measured by aid of 14C-PEG. In the stomach a net secretion of fluid was observed. The fluid volume absorbed in the jejunum and in the colon was 0.05 and 0.044 ml/cm length respectively.
