Abstract
Candida tropical is cells are able to assimilate hydrocarbons as single carbon source. In continuous culture experiments following a substrate change from glucose to hexadecane, an adaption phase occurred (H. Hug, H.W. Blanch and A. Fiechter, Biotechnol.Bioeng. XVI, 965, 1974). Therefore, possible structure changes of the plasma membrane before and after the adaption period were examined.
