Summary

Four reasons for the importance of the connection “O. R. and global phenomena” are shown. Then, global studies, mainly those presenting themselves in the form of world models, are sketched as such and according to their main field of research. Basic types of modelling global phenomena are presented: distribution modelling, f-sets-modelling (fuzzy sets), and v-sets-modelling. All three types are characterized according to their applicability and to problems of measuring global phenomena.
