Abstract
Laboratory studies of problem solving sometimes take the form of games people like to play. Sometimes they take the form of situations that are similar or related to practical tasks found in life outside the laboratory. Most times, however, the studies involve very abstract tasks that are artificial or contrived. Therefore, questions of ecological validity might be asked, much as they were in the previous chapter on intelligence.
