Summary

A model dialysis was carried out to determine the relative dialysability of potassium bichromate (K2Cr2O7) from aqueous solution, plasma and whole blood. The authors found that the dialysance of CrVI from aqueous solution was 62–73% of the dialysance of urea, from plasma 58–64%, whereas from the whole blood it was only 11–34%. With regard to the rapid incorporation of CrVI in erythrocytes and in the cells of the parenchyma organs, this fact offers in the opinion of the authors only a small change of eliminating any decisive amount of toxic CrVI compounds from the organism of intoxicated persons.
