Abstract
The technical design in new FMS generation emphasizes the automatic tool transport. The reason is obvious — really unmanned operation with high level of flexibility is hardly possible without this feature. But what is the most efficient way how to control the tool flow and what are the concequences for FMS technology? These main problems are discussed and solution are suggested in the paper. New tool flow strategy based on random machining in FMS, where common tool pool is used and automatic tool transport matches transport of parts is described.Practical experiences from FMS operation together with basic information about new simulation model are given.
