Abstract
The efficient production should have short and precise lead times, small batch sizes and zero defects. The parts and subassemblies of a product are produced directly to the assembly section by means of just on time. High flexibility, availability and capability are required for and FMS an its subsystems. One important subsystem of an FMS, tool management system, is discussed in this paper.
