Abstract

Cardiogenic shock, meaning shock due to acute heart failure, may occur in a variety of conditions, such as myocardial infarction, peracute myocarditis, extreme paroxysmal tachycardia or extreme slowing of the heart, and tamponade of the heart due to heart rupture, as well as in the terminal phase of chronic cardiac failure.
