Abstract

MEMORY imagery is the common and relatively familiar imagery of everyday life. It may accompany the recall of events from the past, the ongoing thought processes of the present or the anticipatory actions and events of the future. Though it may occur as a spontaneous accompaniment to much everyday thought of this kind it is far more amenable to voluntary control than all other forms of imagery. However, the ability to control even this form of imagery varies very much from person to person and some of the consequences of this fact will be discussed at several places in this chapter.
