Zusammenfassung

Die Bestellung der Saatbeete erfolgt entweder in der Absicht, die erzogenen Pflanzen in ein- bis höchstens dreijährigem Alter sofort zu Kulturen zu verwenden, oder sie in einem Alter von 1–2 Jahren — ein höheres Alter wird nur ausnahmsweise vorkommen — zur Erziehung kräftiger, gut bewurzelter Pflanzen zu verschulen. In der Art und Weise der Ansaat wird aber hierburch ein Unterschied nicht begründet, nur etwa in der Stärke der Aussaat, der Menenge des verwendeten Samens, indem man in ersterem Falle wohl etwas dünner sät; das Nachstehende gilt daher für beide Fälle, bezüglich der zu verwendenden Samenmengen enthält der § 54 die nöthigen Erörterungen.

S. 122) einen Samenschneideapparat konstruirt, mittelst dessen die Keimkraft von je 100 Eicheln oder Bucheln, die in eine entsprechend Platte eingesteckt werden, durch einen Schnitt erprobt werden kann. Der Apparat ist sehr elegant gearbeitet, aber für seinen Zweck doch zu umständlich und zu theuer — nach Mittheilung der denselben herstellenden Firma Spoerhase vormals Staudinger in Gießen war denn auch der Absatz ein sehr geringer und mußte die Fabrikation aufgegeben werden. Die Schuld mag vor Allem auch daran liegen, daß gerade bei deisen großen Samenarten die Schnittprobe sich mit einem Messer ebenfalls rasch ausführen läßt.
