Zusammenfassung
Nach einer auch heute noch im wesentlichen treffenden Definition Paneths (3) kann die Radiochemie als die Chemie von Stoffen gefaßt werden, die durch ihre radioaktive Strahlung bestimmt werden. Diese Strahlung kann entweder unmittelbar aus dem Atomkern stammen und dann als Kernstrahlung bezeichnet werden, oder sie kann, wie im Falle des K-Einfangs und der „inneren Umwandlung“, zwar durch Vorgänge im Atomkern hervorgerufen werden, aber selbst aus der Atomhülle stammen. Im Einklang mit der Definition. Paneths spricht man von einer radiochemischen Analysenmethode, wenn an irgendeiner Stelle des Analysenganges eine Bestimmung der Intensität einer radioaktiven Strahlung vorgenommen werden muß. Die radiochemische Analyse ist also ein Teilgebiet der angewandten Radiochemie.
