Abstract

If blood could be collected without exposure to foreign surfaces, it would not clot at all. In contact with a foreign surface, such as glass, it clots within minutes. Contact therefore releases the trigger mechanism of the coagulation process. But what is this trigger mechanism? At this point opinions differ widely.
