Zusammenfassung

Die Virologie hat in den letzten Jahren für die Lösung biologischer Fragestellungen eine immer größere Bedeutung erlangt. Gleichzeitig ist die Technik vereinfacht worden. Daher ist es heute auch demjenigen, für den die Virologie nicht Selbstzweck, sondern nur ein Werkzeug darstellt, um die in seinem eigenen Arbeitsgebiet auftretenden Fragestellungen angehen zu können, möglich geworden, auf virologischem Gebiet erfolgreich zu arbeiten. Viele der in der diagnostischmedizinischen Virologie gebräuchlichen Techniken sind hier nicht notwendig, da von vornherein mit Virusstämmen gearbeitet werden wird, deren biologische Eigenschaften genau charakterisiert sind.
