Zusammenfassung

Die Bausteine der heute beobachtbaren Welt auf Skalen von einigen Mpc sind Galaxien, Sternsysteme ähnlich unserem eigenen Milchstraßensystem. Im Reich der Galaxien setzt sich der hierarchische Aufbau des Universums fort: Galaxien ordnen sich in Galaxienhaufen zusammen, und Galaxienhaufen scheinen sich girlandenförmig aneinander zu hängen. Zwischen diesen Ketten von Galaxienhaufen existieren gewaltige Leerräume.
