Abstract

A decade ago I made the following statement: “reviewing the literature now with the wisdom bestowed by hindsight one is impressed by the relative ease with which resistance can be induced to almost any antimalarial drug. The method employed may facilitate the process but is, in most cases, not over-important” (Peters 1970). This statement is still valid. A number of additional techniques for the experimental production of drug resistance have since been published and these are incorporated in Table 1.
