Zusammenfassung

Unter Akkommodation verstehen wir die Fähigkeit, die Brechkraft des Auges durch Krümmungszunahme der Linse zu vergrößern. An dieser Funktion sind drei verschiedene Vorgänge beteiligt: 1. nervöse, durch den Parasympathikus im Okulomotorius peripher geleitete Einflüsse, 2. eine Muskeltätigkeit: die Kontraktion des ins Corpus ciliare eingebauten Muskelsystems, und 3. physikalisch-elastische Eigenschaften der Linse, die Krümmungszunahme durch Entspannung des Aufhängeapparates der Linse, der Zonula Zinnii. Die beiden ersten Faktoren bleiben unter physiologischen Bedingungen so gut wie unveränderlich während des ganzen Lebens, der dritte ändert sich mit zunehmendem Alter, indem die Fähigkeit der Linse, ihre Form bei Erschlaffung der Zonula Zinnii zu ändern, allmählich immer geringer wird. Die Folge ist, daß der Nahpunkt, auf den sich das Auge durch die mögliche, maximale Krümmungszunahme der Linse einstellt, immer weiter vom Auge fortrückt.
