Abstract
The manifestations of cardiac arrhythmias may be remarkably varied. On the one hand, they may be an expression of physiologic function, and therefore may be documented in healthy subjects. On the other hand, they may be a manifestation of severe cardiac disease and, finally, they are the most frequent cause of sudden cardiac death. It is possible to classify them according to where they originate and also within the following four categories.
