Die Eigenschaften der Placenta, entsprechend der Stoffwechselgröße des Feten Sauerstoff von der Mutter aufzunehmen und Kohlendioxyd an die Mutter abzugeben, bezeichnet man als die Atmungsfunktion der Placenta.
