Über das Thema Krebsvorsorge und Krebsfrüherkennung im HNO-Bereich war in Bad Reichenhall auf der 53. Jahresversammlung kontrovers diskutiert worden. Die Erlanger Arbeitsgruppe (1982) hielt eine Krebsvorsorge für sinnvoll und erstrebenswert, die Düsseldorfer Arbeitsgruppe (1982) dagegen für kaum effizient und praktikabel.
